If you’ve been following UK news at all you’ll know that it’s in the middle of an ongoing Cost of Living crisis that is pricing so many people out of food and housing and… well, everything.
I’m a carer for my disabled mum and stepdad. My mum has fibromyalgia and my stepdad has had to have a quadruple heart bypass. I’m the only one that can work, and working I am. However, we’ve got problems.
Last year when we were struggling, but before the Cost of Living Crisis hit, we were so broke we had to put everything on credit cards. Bills, food, everything. And since then we’ve had other crises that we’ve had to take out loans for. Our dog suddenly got ill and needed treatment, which was ultimately unsuccessful. My mum’s car, which she needs to get about due to living in an extremely rural location, finally gave up the ghost and needed replacing. And on, and on, and on.
All told, we have about ten thousand pounds worth of debt. At the moment we’re earning enough to keep our heads above water, but we’re eating beans, potatoes, rice, for every meal. And the cost of those keeps going up too.
I’ve made a GoFundMe. I’m hoping to raise enough to pay off these debts so the income we are getting helps my income stretch far enough to cover household bills until things settle down again.
Please, if you can’t donate, please share. We have enough to keep going but I don’t know how long for. If things get bad enough, we will lose our house.
Thank you.
